Life Update (Last Updated, Sunday, 06/25/06)

I just finished an utterly exhuasting week, followed by and equally exhausting weekend. We just finished up GO2006 (which, by the way, was an awesome time of experiencing God's Presence in worship, community, and ministry). One guy from Pine Ridge got saved Wednesday night and was baptized Friday night. What followed His baptism can rally be described only as a move of God's in the hearts and lives of the outreachers - by the end of the night (1:40am) we had baptized 17 kids. I personally had the privelage of batizing Katie Linkous, an awesome friend and disciple from our old youth group in High Springs (she also gave her life to Jesus on Wednesday at SWEAT). I was also honored to be able to be a part of leading the evening, although I would have to say that it was overall a great example of various parts of Jesus' body functioning together in a beautiful flow of ministry under the annointing of God's Spirit.

Currently, I am in Palm Coast on a 2-day vacation I am hoping to get at least some rest.

I am also hoping to get hired soon to be a Middle school teacher - it is something I really want to get involved in, and right now I am left waiting and hoping.

So, if you haven't yet heard, there has been a string of robberies in SW G-ville recently, among which have been two Domino's stores. Also, coicidentally, this past week was my first working as a driver for Domino's on University. Fortunately, we seem to have avoided being hit . . . that is, until Saturday morning @ 4:27am. I'll tell you, it is not at all fun to be held up and robbed at gunpoint. Guns are scary, not exciting. They stole my car keys and my wallet. However, my assocaite manager, Nick, and I chased them down, got the tag number on the car, and the cops caught the bad guys.

This is my last week at First United Methodist. I am unsure what to think. On the one hand, I am trying to get ready to minister at 1st A/G again. On the other hand, I don't think I have fully computed the fact that I am leaving the kids here at The UpRising (hopefully I will get to see some of them at GO2K6 ;-) ).

One thing that is making me a little antsy is that I do not yet have another full time job to transition into. I am waiting for Temp Force to find something for me. Hopefully they will soon - I think I would like to have a job to go to next Monday :-) . I not really worried, though. God has proven Himself faithful time and again (as if God should be expected to prove anything to me). I know that He will provide for my family now even as He has in the past. Pray for us, that He will open up a position for me to teach next year and that He will make clear whether or not we should buy/build the house we are interested in. I love you all.

There are currently many big events going on in my life, with a few "exciting" loose ends. To begin with, I currently have probably only 2-3 more weeks left as youth pastor at 1st UMC in High Spring.

This means I'll be going home to First Assembly soon and will also be heading back to SWEAT. Although I'm pretty bummed about leaving the youth at The UpRising, I am very excited to be going home and serving the Lord under such godly leadership and along with such amazing bro's and sis's in the Lord.

What this also means, however, is that I must find a new job for the summer. I am currently considering either working until 4am each morning delivering pizzas for Dominos (closing driver make $100/night) or doing full-time secretarial work for Temp Force, or both.
